Merino ewes were artificially inseminated after artificial synchronisation of oestrus. One group was given progesterone via a controlled internal drug-release device; a second received 400 i.u. PMSG before A.I.; a third received both; and a control group, neither. PSMG tended to speed up the onset of oestrus. Progesterone increased foetuses per ewe and foetuses per pregnant ewe.
