Discussion on the problem of the variable onset of oestrus activity of B.L. x Mo ewes in spring. Also, management options for optimizing the 'ram effect' including time of joining, progesterone priming and ram management. The role of Fecundin in conjunction with present spring and summer joining technologies and the use of a blood glucose test in mid-pregnancy are also discussed.
