Rangelands research and development group: background and action plan

The group is composed of officers from CSIRO Division of Wildlife and Ecology, New South Wales Agriculture, New South Wales Department of Conservation and Land Management and Queensland Department of Primary Industries. The group has as its goal to co-ordinate research and development of sustainable land management systems which promote both economic production and conservation of semi-arid areas of New South Wales and Queensland. The draft plan outlines the main areas of interest, including ecosystem management, rehabilitation of pastoral land, non-domestic herbivore management, cropping and tillage practices, pasture establishment, and management of enterprises undertaken in arid areas.
