There has been a trend upwards in imports of most dairy products into the Seychelles. The objective is to replace imports with locally produced products of comparable quality and price. The Laiterie des Iles is producing reconstituted milk, yoghurt and fresh cheeses from imported full cream milk and skim milk powders. Fruit juices are produced from imported sweetened concentrated juices. The Laiterie operation is deficient in plant, equipment and buildings. Proposed changes in products and techniques are given, with costs, before a take-over could be carried out.
