Immediate causes of death during the export of live sheep

Necroscopies performed on all sick and dead sheep on 3 voyages from Western Australia to the Middle East during 1985-86 found that starvation was the most common cause of death. Other causes of death recorded were salmonellosis and traumatic injury. Miscellaneous deaths (mostly designated as of farm origin) accounted for 4.2, 6.0 and 12.4 percent of deaths
