A systematic effect of stocking intensity upon the specific defoliation rate of saltbush by sheep [native browse; Australia]. Brief communication
1986
Lange, R.T. (Adelaide Univ. (Australia). Botany Dept.)
In one experiment of a series, a generally observed relationship between indices of stocking intensity, egesta accumulation and defoliation rate, though maintained in experimental subunits, failed to hold over the experiment as a whole. The suggestion is that a systematic relationship between subunits opposed the general effect. The result is unexplained, but justifies further investigation.
