Factors affecting the productivity of irrigated annual pastures. 1. Time of first irrigation in late summer-early autumn [northern Victoria]
1986
Stockdale, C.R. (Victorian Dept. of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Kyabram (Australia). Animal and Irrigated Pastures Research Inst.)
Beginning the irrigation in late summer instead of at the normal time of late March-April provided additional herbage in autumn and winter and did not adversely affect herbage production in late winter to early spring. It also increased the subterranean clover content of the pasture. The benefits may be offset by weed invasion.
