Detailed protocols for nodal culture and somatic embryogenesis in coffee are recommended. Steps in nodal culture include stock plant selection and preparation, establishment of aseptic cultures, multiplication, root development and glasshouse establishment. Somatic embryogenesis entails establishment of aseptic cultures, callus development, induction of somatic embryos, embryo germination and glasshouse establishment. Genetic uniformity and field performance are being assessed.
