Of the 29 flocks tested in 1983 using a microhaemagglutination inhibition test, evidence of infection was found only in 1 flock on Palm Island. The one positive serum had a titre of 16. The infection of this flock appeared to have been from contact with started pullets from the Brisbane region. Subsequent annual monitoring of flocks has shown no evidence of infection.
