In situ effective degradability of crude protein (CP), and content of protein digestible in the intestine (PDI) and net energy of lactation (NEL) were tested in three intergeneric grass hybrids (Festuca x Lolium). Grasses were harvested in three cuts and conserved by drying (D), ensiling without additives (WA), with formic acid (FA), and Bactozyme (B) and Silabac (S) biological agents. WA samples of Lolium-like hybrid Perun had higher (P0.01) both PDI and NEL content than Festuca-like hybrids Hykor or Felina. Perun had also higher (P0.01) NEL values in D and FA samples. When both Festuca-like hybrids were compared mutually, Felina had higher (P0.01) PDI content than Hykor (with the same NEL content, P0.05) in D sample. However, the trend was contrary in the ensiled samples. In comparison of ensiling agents, FA or WA samples had in average higher PDI and NEL content in the 1st and 2nd cut than B or S samples. The average volatile fatty acids content in WA, FA, B and S, resp., was 23, 17, 15 and 13 g/kg DM, resp. The corresponding lactic acid content was 42, 35, 84 and 61 g/kg DM, respectively.
