Trichothecene occurrence in European cereals - a review
1995
Pettersson, H.
Fusarium is a common toxigenic genus on European cereals. Many occurring species can produce trichothecenes. Contamination of cereals can thus be suspected to be common. In the beginning of 1980ies the trichothecene deoxynivalenol was found to be a common contaminant of cereals in Canada and USA. Many reports on natural occurrence of trichothecenesin European cereals appeared also at that time. Deoxanivalenol was most common followed by nivalenol, T-2 and HT-2 toxin. Since then more and larger survey with better and more sensitive methods have been performed and reported.
