Comparison between EVA [ethyl-vinyl acetate] strip mulch and individual mulch used for reforestation of plain areas

Six mulch treatments were applied in June 1994 to seedlings of seven different species of trees and bushes (Acer campestre L., Carpinus betulus L., Quercus pedunculata Ehrh., Fraxinus excelsior L., Salix alba L., Frangula alnus Mill., Cornus sanguinea L.): black ethylvinylacetate (EVA) strip; three different kinds of cardboard mats; two different kinds of black plastic mats. Plants height, stem diameter and death rate were measured at the end of the growing season. The costs of the application of mulch treatments were also compared. Results vary from species to species, but they prove that EVA strip is generally the most convenient mulch treatment among the tested ones

Nel giugno del 1994 si sono applicati sei diversi tipi di pacciamatura a sette diverse specie di alberi ed arbusti (Acer campestre L., Carpinus betulus L., Quercus pedunculata Ehrh., Fraxinus excelsior L., Salix alba L., Frangula alnus Mill., Cornus sanguinea L.): film plastico lineare in etilvinilacetato (EVA); tre diversi tipi di pacciamature individuali in cartone; due diversi tipi di pacciamatura individuali in materiale plastico nero. L'altezza delle piantine, il diametro del fusto e la mortalita' sono stati misurati al termine della stagione vegetativa. Inoltre si sono confrontati i costi di applicazione dei trattamenti pacciamanti. I risultati variano da specie a specie, ma dimostrano che il film lineare in EVA e' generalmente la pacciamatura piu' conveniente tra quelle testate
