Variability in perennial wormwood (Artemisia absinthium L.) of different geographical origin. Evaluation and selection

英语. Well established soil-grown plants of Artemisia absinthium from six countries were evaluated during two years. High variability was found for number of stems per plant, growth habit, flowering period, fresh and dry matter yield and plant height, this latter trait showing the lowest value of phenotypic variability (19%). As a first screening the genotypes with superior characteristics were multiplied and their clonal progeny studied. Broad sense heritability for dry matter (leaves and flowers) yield was found to be as high as 0.72. The genetic gain obtained through selection for this character suggest that superior varieties may be produced in relative short time

意大利语. [Nel corso di due anni sono state valutate piante di Arthemisia absinthium provenienti da sei paesi, adattate e coltivate in campo. E' stata riscontrata un'elevata variabilita' per il numero di fusti per pianta, il portamento, il periodo di fioritura, la produzione di sostanza fresca e secca e l'altezza della pianta; quest'ultimo carattere evidenziava il livello piu' basso di variabilita' fenotipica (19%). Come selezione preliminare, sono stati moltiplicati i genotipi con caratteristiche superiori ed e' stata studiata la loro progenie clonale. L'ereditarieta' in senso lato per la produzione di sostanza secca (foglie e fiori) risultava pari a 0.72.
