Mechanical fertilizing and its influence on ratoon cane at mediterran soil, Takalar (Indonesia)

英语. An idea to ratoon sugarcane up to seventh ratoon came from the shortage of labour and limited planting time at Takalar SF. However, such an idea may arise some problems such as cane shoots and a shallow root system. Canes will be more susceptible to drought and easier to topple. Such condition will cause stalk diameter smaller and less production will occur. An integrated study on the ratoon cane was carried out. A method of effective and practical fertilizer applications was studied first, using a Factorial 5 x 2 of a Randomized Block Design with 5 replications. First factor was 5 application methods consisting of A. Double Sub Soiler Fertilizer (DSF) + Sub Soiler Interrow (S) + Off Barring (OB); B. Broadcast Fertilizer (BF) + Double Sub Soiler (DS) + S + OB; C. DSF + S; D. DSF and E. BF + S + OB as control. Second factor was 2 application times, i.e. after harvesting and early rainy season. The result showed that DSF+S+OB (A) method was more effective and more efficient compared to that of other treatments and the control. Number of shoots of 1, 3 and 6 months old of cane was as the same as the control, while the cane height was formed the same or higher than control. It seemed that application time of fertilization only influenced cane growth after 3 months old. After harvesting application as 3 and 6 months old of cane and early rainy season application at 6 months old made the plants higher than the control

Dengan kebijakan tersebut diperkirakan akan muncul beberapa masalah, antara lain pertunasan dan sistem perakaran menjadi dangkal sehingga tanaman rentan terhadap kekeringan dan kerobohan. Pada kondisi demikian diameter batang mengecil dan produksi menurun. Untuk mengantisipasi masalah tersebut perlu dilakukan penelitian perakitan paket teknologi tebu keprasan. Pada tahap awal diteliti beberap metode pemberian pupuk. Tujuan penelitian adalah menetapkan satu cara pemupukan yang efektif dan praktis. Percobaan disusun secara Factorial 5 x 2 dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), diulang lima kali. Faktor pertama cara pemberian pupuk, terdiri atas lima macam perlakuan, yaitu A. Double Sub Soiler Fertilizer (DSF) + Sub Soiler Interrow (S) + Off Barring (OB): B. Broadcast Fertilizer (BF) + Double Sub Soiler (DS) + S + OB; C. DSF + S; D. DSF dan E. sebagai kontrolnya adalah perlakuan baku PG, yaitu BF + S + OB. Faktor kedua adalah waktu pemupukan yang dilakukan dalam dua saat, yaitu segera setelah tebang (SF) dan awal musim hujan (AMH). Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa cara pemupukan dengan DSF+S+OB (A) lebih efektif dan efisien dibanding perlakuan lain dan kontrolnya. Jumlah tunas umur satu, tiga dan enam bulan pada perlakuan tersebut sama dengan kontrolnya
