Classical time series decomposition: A case study on the data for purchased quantity of dessert apples in Slovenia for the period 1980-1995

In the paper we present the classical decomposition method which decomposes a time series into trend, seasonal, cyclical and irregular component. The classical decomposition method is illustrated on the time series describing the quantity of purchased dessert apples in Slovenia in the period 1980-1995. Results show no trend, however an important seasonal component with maximum in October and minimum in July and August.
