[Determination of organic carbon in soil samples by two analytical procedures]
1995
Arrieche, I.E.
Two analytical procedures were compared in order to determine the organic carbon content with the objetive of changing the titration for the colorimetric technique in the wet combustion method of Walkley-Black. The titration is always dependent in the final point of the indicator. Meanwhile the colorimetric techique has the advantage of less reactive consuming and reduction of the error sources. Three soil samples were taken with high, medium and low organic matter content. Three daily repetitions were done for sample for thirty non continuos days. The statistical parameters: mean, variation coefficient, correlation coefficient and mean test, were applied to the final results. There was no significant difference between techniques and more variability in the information for titration. In conclusion, the titration technique can be changed for the colorimeter technique for soil organic carbon.
