The effects of the hydroabsorbent TerraCottem on the growth of Norway spruce (Picea abies) and beech (Fagus sylvatica) seedlings

This contribution describes results from the cultivation of Norway spruce (Picea abies) and beech (Fagus sylvatica) seedlings. They were grown in a plastic greenhouse and outside in the field in earthy substrates supplemented with the hydroabsorbent TerraCottem. At the vegetation end seedlings were collected and height of seedlings, hypocotyl diameter, root system length, type, fresh weight and dry matter were measured. The hydroabsorbent TerraCottem effects were significant in all evaluated traits for spruce and in the root system length as well as in root system fresh weight for beech.
