The article presents reforestation ways of extreme localities in the lowland regions of Hungary represented above all by drift sand, salt soils, flooded areas and peatlands. Extraordinary attention is given to preparation, i.e. to soil amelioration as well as to the choice of suitable tree species for the site. If the site conditions are suitable, these sites can be used for breeding of fast-growing soft-wood decidous species, mainly cultivated poplars, alder and tree willows as well as for breeding of some hard-wooded decidous tree species, above all English oak, European ash, black walnut and robinia. If there are suitable conditions, ameliorationg tree species are planted to create bed load.
