Should agriculture be able to keep up pace with population numbers, it shall have to increase its production, and that above all through increased yields (by using fertilizers), more frequent cultivation and extensive development, that is through extension of the cultivated land. It is necessary to keep in mind, however, that all these methods have their environmental risks.
