Outreach projects conducted by the Small Ruminant Collaborative Research Support Program are described. Technologies and production recommendations extended to farmers cooperating in the projects are listed. Farmer surveys were conducted to determine the acceptance and persistence of introduced interventions. Recommendations dealing with tree legumes, supplemental forage feeding, anthelmintic use and raising sheep with 50 percent hairsheep inheritance were well adopted. Record keeping, the use of concentrate supplementation were not well adopted. The characteristics of successful technologies are listed and the extended technologies discussed in those terms. Farmers need to be involved with problem identification and technology development for interventions to have a greater chance of being adopted and persisting
