The paper presents an investigation of frost heave of fly ash. The freezing conditions simulating the formation of ice lenses in the ground layers were investigated employing frost-heave test, developed and improved by Transport and Road Research Laboratory, UK. The frost susceptibility tests were made on two fly ashes and natural silt with the same grading. The influence of porosity, initial water content and amount of organic matter on frost heaving was investigated. The tests results show that fly ash is less frost susceptible than natural soil of the same gardation. Frost heave of fly ashes with lime addition was also investigated. The addition of lime caused a change of frost suceptibility of tested soils
