Adhin, Shanti Dh.
This document must be seen as a discussion report for the final national strategy for the sustainable use and the preservation of the biodiversity and the action plan. This report is based on the parts of the treaty, concerning the biological diversity, which are most relevant for Suriname and in which treaty Suriname will be participating. Further working out into action plans was done on the grounds of the results of the first workshop of the national strategy (23-24 March 1995) and the deliberations which followed within the biodiversity work group. Action plans were formulated with regard to the following subjects; inventory of the biodiversity and the in situ preservation, sustainable use of biodiversity components (environmental effects studies, minimising of the negative impacts and monitoring), research, education and training and policy coordination, adequate structures and technical and scientific co-operation
