The preparation of a National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP) for Suriname was initiated by the Organization of American States (OAS). The seperate parts of the NEAP were written by numerous experts. The NEAP includes a summary of the overall situation relative to the development strategy. Also analyses were made of -major cross-sectional issues, -institutional, legal and educational framework, -major development activity, and trends in economic growth, resource use and conservation, and key environmental issues
