A critical assessment of the prospects for promiscuous nodulating soybean varieties for the non-commercial sector in Zimbabwe
1996
Gwata, E.T. (Ministry of Agriculture, Harare (Zimbabwe). Dept. of Research and Specialist Services)
Soybean production in the non-commercial sector in Zimbabwe is limited by the unavailability of high-yielding promiscuious nodulating varieties. Using a combination of conventinal breeding methods and modern biotechnological approaches, varieties can be developed for the Zimbabwean farmes. Maximum yield potentials of promiscuous varieties are not yet known. A possible alternative approach to increasing soybean production in the non-commercial sector is also discussed.
