The effect of anthelmintics on egg counts of piglets

英语. This study was aimed to determine the efficacy of three against egg counts and species of worms in piglets. A total of 24 piglets naturally infected with gastrointestinal nematodes was divided into 4 groups based on worm burden as shown by egg counts and body weight. Group 1 was given no anthelmintic, group 2 was given a single dose of febantel 10 percent at a dose rate of 50 mg/kg body weight; group 3 was given a single dose of albendazole 20 percent at a dose rate of 25 mg/kg body weight and 4 group was given a single dose of oxibendazole at a dose rate of 10 mg/kg body weight. Faeces were sampled during the first 3 days after anthelmintics treatment, followed by weighing and faecal sampling were done every 10 days. The treatment indicated that until day 60, the group with albendazole gave a negative result of Ascaris eggs, while Trichuris sp. eggs were still found in smaller number. Strongyle type and Strongyloides sp. eggs were found until day 3 after treatment

印度尼西亚. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efikasi tiga macam obat cacing terhadap jumlah telur dan jenis cacing pada anak babi. Sejumlah 24 ekor anak babi yang terinfeksi cacing parasit secara alami dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok berdasarkan derajat infeksi cacing dan bobot badan. Kelompok 1 tidak mendapat obat cacing; kelompok 2 mendapat febantel 10 persen dosis tunggal 50 mg per kg bobot badan; kelompok 3 mendapat albendazol 20 persen dosis tunggal 25 mg per kg bb dan kelompok 4 mendapat oksibendazol 100 persen dosis tunggal 10 mg per kg bb. Sampel tinja diambil 3 hari pertama setelah pengobatan. Setelah itu, penimbangan dan pengambilan sampel tinja dilakukan setiap 10 hari sekali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampai hari ke-60, kelompok yang mendapat albendazol tidak memperlihatkan telur cacing Ascaris, sedangkan cacing Trichuris sp. walaupun berkurang, masih ditemukan telurnya.
