The new strategy of plant health, adopted by European Union, calls for adherence to strictly defined standards of production and marketing of plants and plant material. The specific rules of phytosanitary control of individual species of certified plants material are also being recommended by EPPO. Legal, scientific, and organizational measures are aimed at assessment of phythosanitary risk, production of healthy plant material and phytosanitary control of plant material being marked. Adopted methods of plant phytosanitary control are strictly defined and consist of: 1 - obtaining of certified plant material; 2 - phytosanitary inspection of crops; 3 - establishment of protected zones and pest free areas; 4 - observation of quarantine procedures of inspection of plant material internationally traded. An adequate status of Poland as a partner of international trade depends to a great extend on adoption and use of these modern standards
