The present paper is a reviev of literature containing the data on chemical composition, availability and daily allowances of colostrum. Moreover, it presents the authors' results obtained in their research on changes in chemical composition of cow's colostrum, its nutritive value, storing and preserving methods and availability of immunoglobulins present in fresh, stored and biologically treated colostrum to calves and piglets
