Medicinal and food plants in Nicoya, Costa Rica: there are differences in what men know and what women know

There are differences in the type of information men and women accumulate about food and medicinal plants. In Costa Rican home gardens women tend to know more than men about how to prepare medicinal plants for use. Both men and women are knowledgable about food plants, but this article shows that women tend to know more about certain crops particularly bananas and plantains.
