The aim of the experiment was to find the water soluble content substances, i. e. carbohydrates and amino acids. in the plants of Codonopsis pilosula, obtained from China and cultivated in Czech Republic, icluding tissue cultures. The carbohydrate content varied of l.7 to 7 % and amino acid content in the range 1 to 4.7 % with great differences between individual samples.
