英语. A study was conducted in determining the contents of alkaloid, tannin and its nutritional values from several browse fed to fattening cattle in Timor island. Samples were collected during wet and dry seasons. There were 7 mayor browse which often use in the diet. There are gamelina (Gmelina arborea), pates/lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala), daun kupu-kupu (Bauhinia malabarica), gala-gala/turi (Sesbania grandiflora), gamal (Gliricidia sepium), kabesak (Leucaena leucophloea) dan pisang rote (Musa sp.). Results showed that total number of alkaloid compounds varied from 14 to 30. Although there was an increase from wet to dry season in the concentrations of alkaloid and tannin, however the concentrations of the compounds were low ( 1 percent). The increase of the concentrations between the seasons were ranged from 10 percent to 322 percent. Nutritional values of the browse during wet season were considered high, however there is a need in evaluating of the nutritional values during dry season

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang kandungan senyawa alkaloida, tanin serta nilai nutrisi pada hijauan dedaunan yang umum diberikan peternak di Pulau Timor pada ternak sapi yang dikandangkan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan di musim penghujan dan musim kemarau. Diperoleh 7 jenis hijauan yang paling banyak diberikan, yaitu gemelina (Gmelina arborea), pates/lamtoro (Leucaena leucocephala), daun kupu-kupu (Bauhinia malabarica), gala-gala/turi (Sesbania grandiflora), gamal (Gliricidia sepium), kabesak (Leucaena leucophloea) dan pisang rote (Musa sp.). Hasil analisa menunjukkan jumlah kandungan senyawa alkaloida yang bervariasi dari 14 hingga 30. Walaupun terjadi peningkatan kadar senyawa dari musim penghujan ke musim kemarau, namum kandungan alkaloida dan tanin dari masing-masing jenis tanaman adalah rendah (1 persen). Peningkatan konsentrasi senyawa tersebut dari musim penghujan ke musim kemarau bervariasi dari 10 persen hingga 322 persen. Nilai nutrisi disaat musim penghujan menunjukkan nilai nutrisi yang cukup tinggi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai hijauan pakan ternak. Namun perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut terhadap nilai nutrisi disaat musim kemarau
