Homogenization of Newtonian liquids in a flow using static mixers

Measuring stand, methodology and results of mixing process for water and 15% NaCl solution were described. A static mixers with canal passages (a) and with every second canal plugged at the end (b) were used. The effects of turbulence (Re) and the number of elementary mixing inserts on mixing degree as well as their relation to flow resistance coefficient were described by the equations. Both, the mixing degree and flow resistance coefficient were stronger correlated with the Re number than with the number of mixing inserts, while the Re number decreased in favour of mixing insert number along with the complexity of mixer construction
