Structural change tendencies in agriculture of the Slovak Republic

In the contribution, some indices of the production factors efficiency are analyzed for cooperatives and business companies, both being the most wide-spread forms of farming in the Slovak agriculture. The indicators used show a higher fixed assets and labor efficiency in business companies, compared to cooperatives. However, a tendency of efficiency improvement can be followed also in cooperatives, and that on a higher growth rate than in business companies. The author concludes, that a higher efficiency is not an immanent characteristic of the latter, but the result of the conversion effect, where there occures the elimination of redundant labor and production assets.
