Estimation of nuclear DNA content and analysis of the cell cycle in leaves and seeds of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) by flow cytometry

In the studies the method was applied to the determination of content of 2x, 3x and 4x components in the different ploidy populations of sugar-beet, consisting of 10, 20 and 50 plants. The optimum number of sugar-beet plants in the trial and the manner of determination of components of particular populations have been determined. It has been confirmed that cytometry analysis also provided an information about which stages of the cell it was in. Moreover, it has been found that soaking influenced the cell cycle activation in bath germinating and primed seeds
