Report on CARDI 's research and development activities in the OECS, 1994-1995

The period under review coincides with the transition period between the last Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) strategic plan 1988-1993 and the current plan, 1995-2000. As result, the achievements highlighted reflect the shifting paradigm of CARDI. It also emanates from the strategic framework provided by the OECS Agricultural Diversification Programme and the national plans and policies of the respective countries, particularly as the latter relates to issues of food security. It therefore highlights areas such as production and marketing systems, significant technology developments, research on the pink mealybug, irrigation and water management, planting material production and post-harvest quality assurance.
