Synthetic growth regulators in the cultivation of potato. Pt. 1. Effect of the preparation Potetin on some chemical components of various tubers of potato cultivars

The influence of the synthetic growth regulator - Potetin on the yield quality of 37 potato cultivars was investigated. The plants were grown on podzolic soil of weak rye complex. The preparation Potetin in water solution was applied just before planting by spraying the tubers. Control tubers were sprayed with distilled water. The contents of starch, reducing sugars, soluble sugars, saccharose, vitamin C and polyphenols were analysed in already mature tubers. The Potetin modified the chemical composition of potato tubers: it increased the content of starch in 25 potato cultivars, vitamin C in 23 cultivars and polyphenols in 22 cultivars. The ratios between reducing sugars, starch and sacharose varied markedly among the investigated cultivars
