The influence of water stress on hop plants (Humulus lupulus L.)

The influence of water stress on hop plants in the field experiment was investigated. Three treatments were tested: dry, unirrigated and irrigated. Irrigation followed prognosis on the basis of measurements of momentary soil moisture, soil desorbtion characteristics and plants evapotranspiration. The results of following measurements are provided: stomatal conductivity, net photosynthesis, proline in leaves, potassium and calcium content in leaves and vines, quantity and quality of yield. Stomatal conductivity, net photosynthesis, content of calcium in leaves and vines, weight of cones were reduced by water stress, whereas the content of proline in leaves and content of potassium in leaves and vines were increased. Water stress also had a negative influence on the composition of etheric oils.
