The effects of different irrigation programs and nitrogen levels on the yield and quality of green bean under greenhouse conditions
1999
Soyergin, S.
The experiment was carried out in 1999 from 18th April to 16th July at the "Ataturk Horticultural Central Research Institute in Yalova, Turkey". The experimental design was strip plot with three replications. Three nitrogen level and three irrigation intervals were investigated. Free water surface evaporation was used to determine irrigation water amount. According to the results, the interaction between nitrogen doses and irrigation intervals was found to be statistically significant. The dry matter of pods reduced by increasing amount of water applied. On the other hand the nitrate content of pod increased with increasing the nitrogen doses. Protein content of pods was also affected by the irrigation interval and nitrogen interaction. Water use efficiency was greater with four day irrigation interval as compared to the others.
