Insemination of sows with semen preserved for 4 days in 3 different diluents

The aim of experiment was to compare 3 diluents: MR-A, MERCK3 and ANDROSTAR. The total of 138 sows were inseminated. Statistically significant differences were found for the following traits: litter weight at birth and piglet weaning, number of weaners and their mortality level in rearing. The highest litter weight was observed in the case of sows inseminated with semen diluted in ANDROSTAR; the differences between this diluent and the other two ones were statistically significant. The larger litter size, both at birth and weaning, was noted in the case of sows inseminated with semen diluted and preserved in MR-A. The lowest statistically significant , piglet mortality level was also observed for this diluent
