The functioning of constructed wetland systems consisting of horizontal and vertical subsurface flow filters was analysed in order to evaluate mechanism of removal of contaminants from domestic sewage. Efficiency of organic matter and nutrients removal based on measurements of the sewage quality in various segments of the wetland was evaluated
