Study on the effect of grain moisture content on energy consumption at processing selected cereals in a model crusher

The relationship between specific energy consumption by a model double-roller crusher and the moisture content of processed cereal grain was studied experimentally. Grains of rye, triticale, barley and wheat were ground at the moisture content varying within 10-22%. The highest energy consumption was observed at crushing grain of 15-16% moisture content. In case of the rye and triticale the specific energy consumption approximated 27 kJ/kg, whereas for wheat and barley 18 kJ/kg
