Influence of kind and of manner of giving of the curative sugar foods on their receiving and spreading in the bee colonies

It was found that powdered sugar given as dust was most quickly eaten and distributed among bee colonies. About 80 percent of bees fed the sugar during a two-week experimental period; it was assumed that a similar percentage of bees contacted with the agent used. The method of sugar syrup application did not affect significantly the total number of the bees fed the syrup; however, the syrup was consumed more quickly during spreading. The remaining method used to apply the feed cannot be utilized in spring because the sugar feeds were slowly eaten and were consumed by a small percentage of bees
