Two year study showed the differentiation in soil water content and plant yields among the various elements of land relief. The valley bottom was characterized by the highest water content, while the southern slopes by the lowest; hilltop and northern slopes were in the middle. Plant yields varied among particular agroecological zones. The highest mean grain yield of wheat + barley + peas mixture was obtained in 1998 in the valley bottom, the lowest on the northern slope. In the next year highest grain yielding was on the top, the least on northern slopes again. Despite of favourable moisture conditions the yields were rather low due to improper agricultural technology
