Quantitative and qualitative changes of properties as basis for distinguishing development stages of soils formed from dune sands

The main objective of the present study is to reveal quantitative and qualitative changes of soil properties that occur when soils evolve from inland dune sands as pedogenesis and plant succession proceed and to distinguish their development stages (in the Torun Basin). On the basis of morphological and analytical differences in properties, three development stages, associated with respective stages of plant succesion were distinguished: the initial (regosols), intermediate (arenosols), and mature stage, represented by poorly developed podzols
