Haptoglobin (Hp) is a positive acute phase protein in mammalian serum. In healthy ruminant sera the Hp is absent or present in trace amount. It appears in blood circulation during inflammatory processes, stress or infection. Ruminant Hp, in contrary to another animals, is polymeric molecule. Labelled with horseradish peroxidase or colloidal gold (Au) mouse monoclonal anty-human Hp antibody clone 2.36.71.41 (Mo anty-Hp 2) cross reacting with human and ruminat haptoglobins, was used to determine Hp content in some animal sera of ruminants in slot-dot method. Minimum detected Hp in the method was 0.16 g/L for Bovidae and Cervidae samples, respectively. This paper gives proof that the Hp slot-dot can performed as a screening veterinary test to select animals infected from healthy ones
