The aim of the studies underway is the crossing of bredless goats with Alpine goats to produce goat characterized by correct body conformation and good performance, for the purpose of making the economics of breeding more profitable. After 3 years of mating program, performace cleary improved, with mean milk yields increasing from 199 kg in 1997 to 275.5 kg in 1999, body weight of goats at birth from 2.12 kg to 3.55 kg, and compactness index calculated for dams from 116 points in 1997 to 124 points in 1998 and to 129 points in 1999. The metodology for evaluating the qualitative parameters of goat milk specifies that milk should be collected with a mechanical milker, and be sampled and analysed for percentage content of protein, fat, casein, pH and renneting time at 2-weekly interwals
