Analysis of seeding of bare areas in Trentino (Northern Italy)

This research deals with the floristic composition of six landslides or disused quarries, located between 300 and 1350 meters a.s.l., most of them on limestone rock, in Trentino (Northern Italy), revegetated after 1988 using natural techniques for soil reclamation. Based on the surveys carried out on 73 sampling areas in the years 1994-1996, the behaviour of the herbaceous species normally used in the revegetation mixtures was evaluated, especially with relationship with soil water content, which is the critical ecological factor in the examined situations. In this way, species have been found which are suited to all environments and others which are better suited to drier or moister ones. In questo lavoro viene studiata la composizione floristica di inerbimenti eseguiti dopo il 1988 in Trentino su sei frane o ex-cave poste per lo piu' su substrato calcareo tra le quote di 300 e 1350 m. s.l.m.. Sulla base dei rilievi eseguiti su 73 aree di saggio nel triennio 1994-1996, e' stato analizzato il comportamento delle varie specie normalmente impiegate nei miscugli, soprattutto relativamente al contenuto idrico del suolo, che risulta il fattore ecologico piu' critico nelle situazioni esaminate. Si sono cosi' individuate specie con capacita' di adattamento a tutte le situazioni e altre che si adattano meglio ad ambienti di minore o maggiore aridita' del substrato. Si sono inoltre descritte le conseguenze negative dell'utilizzo di specie a veloce attecchimento ed alta capacita' competitiva iniziale, ma di breve durata
