英语. The effects of the Stolbur phytoplasma on the rot system of tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum) were studied. Morphometric analyses showed strong differences between infected and healthy control plants in the branching degree of adventitious and first order lateral roots. The phytoplasma strongly influenced the distribution of the nuclei in the three populations (2C, 4C and 8C), especially increasing that with the lowest DNA content (2C), suggesting a block in endoreplication in the presynthetic phase of the cell cycle
