Effect of workpiece interaction on circular saw cutting stability Pt.1: Theoretical background

英语. Thin-kerf guided circular saws have greatly superior cutting performance in sawmills compared with conventional fixed-collar saws. However, the reason for this superior behavior is not well understood. Interaction of the workpiecewith the saw body is identified here as an important factor influencing guided circular saw cutting stability. This interaction strongly influences the cutting stability of a guided saw compared with a similar fixed-collar saw. A simplified computer simulation of saw cutting, including workpiece interaction, is presented. The simulation clearly demonstrates the superior cutting stability of guided circular saws. The simulated results demonstrate the same trends observed in industrial practice and incutting accuracy measurements made in previous experimental studies.

德语. Kreissaegen mit engem Fuehrungsschlitz zeigen ein deutlich besseres Saegeverhalten als konventionell eingespannte Blaetter. Allerdings ist die Ursache dieses ueberlegenen Verhaltens noch nicht ausreichend geklaert. Die Wechselwirkung des Werkstuecks mit dem Saegekoerper erwies sich in dieser Untersuchung als ein wichtiger Faktor, der die Stabilitaet eines gefuehrten Saegeblattes beeinflusst, und zwar in staerkerem Ausmass als bei Saegeblaettern, die mit Spannringen fixiert sind. Ein vereinfachtes Rechenmodell fuer das Saegeverhalten und die Wechselwirkung mit dem Werkstueck wird vorgestellt. Dieses Modell demonstriert klar das ueberlegene Saegeverhalten von gefuehrten Saegeblaettern sowohl in der Industriepraxis als auch bei Laborversuchen.
