Immunohystochemical identification of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) in the major salivary glands and in the Brunner's glands of horses

英语. The distribution of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) was studied by immunohistochemical technique in the major salivary glands and in Brunner's glands of horses. The positive reaction for EGF was identified in the ductal epithelium, both in the mandibular and parotid gland. The immunostaining was detectable throughout the cytoplasm, but was more prominent on the apical side of the epithelium. The immuno-positive reaction was also detected in the acinar cells of Brunner's glands of all animals tested. With regard to NGF, the immunostaining reaction was localized only in the ductal epithelium of mandibular gland, more prominent on the apical portion of the cytoplasm

[E' stata studiata la distribuzione del fattore di crescita epidermico e del fattore di crescita nervoso mediante tecnica immunoistochimica nelle ghiandole salivari maggiori e nelle ghiandole di Brunner dei cavalli. La reazione positiva all'EGF e' stata identificata nell'epitelio dei dotti, sia nella ghiandola mandibolare, sia nella parotide. La positivita' alla reazione era osservabile in tutto il citoplasma, ma era piu' evidente nella porzione apicale dell'epitelio. La reazione positiva e' stata pure osservata nelle cellule acinari della ghiandole di Brunner in tutti gli animali studiati. Riguardo all'EGF, la reazione e' stata riscontrata solamente nell'epitelio dei dotti della ghiandola mandibolare, con maggiore evidenza nella porzione apicale del citoplasma]
