In the field study conducted in 1996-98 weed investigation and seed yield of bean Wiejska cv. were estimated at different numbers of weed control operations (1-4 times) and under the influence of delayed first weed removal within 4-9 weeks after the date of sowing. The data of the study proved that the best method of mechanical weed control in bean grown for seeds appeared to be the fourth removal of weeds from the plots, started 3 weeks after sowing and repeated in 2 week's intervals. Weed investigation during the whole growing period caused the reduction of seed yield by 56.1 in comparison to weed free treatment. Single removal of weeds did not provide a satisfactory weed control, and as a result of this there was a significant lower yield of dry seed. Weed competition throughout the period of 8 and 9 weeks after seriously decreased the growth rate of plants and seed yield bean by 27.6 and 36.5 respectively, in comparison to the best yielding treatment
